A Protective Order is a legal means of protecting individuals against violence in a dating or family relationship. If the circumstances support a determination of A clear and present danger,upon application, a Protective order can be signed by a Judge to take effect on a temporary basis until a formal hearing can be held. A Protective Order can remain effective for up to 2 years and is enforceable both criminally and civilly.
