Lease
Leases are often confused with rental agreements, yet they are not the same. Rental agreements are intended to be in effect for a short period, usually one month. When used for a month-to- month, the agreement automatically renews until proper notice is given , usually 30 days. Due to their nature, Rental agreement terms can be amended or changed, including increasing payments. Whereas, a lease obligates both parties to a specified period of time, (e.g. 6 months or a year). The terms are set and cannot be altered unless the lease provides for that. Leases are not automatically renewed and cannot be terminated prior to the expiration date unless lease terms are violated.
